White on White Mood Board

When it comes to longevity in design and decoration, you can never go past white. An all white room never seems to date, always feels fresh and pure, and is often the perfect decorating palette for our hectic modern lives. All white brings a sense of calm and peace, however there are still important points to remember so you don't end up feeling like you are living in a hostile mental asylum. Here are my top tips for creating the perfect all white room.

1: Mix your whites.
Layering different warm whites, creams and cool whites will soften the room and prevent it from becoming cold and sterile.
Rustic coral & shell display white.
2: Texture.
Having all white walls, floors and furniture means you need to add interest and character through texture. I would suggest avoiding lots of glossy ceramics as this will just reflect more light. What you want to do is warm up the space. Use different textiles, timbers and natural fibres (all in white) layered together to create interest. Because your eye isn't being drawn to other colourful elements, it means whatever 'all white' objects you add, will naturally blend but also the texture will 'pop' more.
Collection of white rooms. 3: Look to mother nature.
Adding natural, organic elements will be the little touch that really brings the room together...again...paint them white. eg: white coral, painted, dried lotus pods or palm fronds, or white stones can be lovely little touches to pull the room together.

If you are like me and enjoy a sense of calm and sophistication in your home, you really can't go past all white.
