As summer continues in the southern hemisphere, with the days still hot and humid, there is nothing better than inviting your friends over and hanging out around the bbq or pool. Entertaining seems to be embedded in Australian culture. It is where we share a laugh with our mates, reminisce on old times, and compare recipe notes past on from our mums (often thanks to old Woman's Weekly cookbooks). Entertaining can be as casual or extravagant as we dream. There will always be a soft spot in Australian culture for the humble esky, however these days the esky seems to have retired to the garage for camping trips alone, making way for some fabulous stands, vessels and bar units to hold our desired beverages.

For years at Alfresco Emporium we have stocked the gorgeous Leather Bar Cabinet. Made of chestnut leather it oozes sophistication, and is loved by men and women equally. Owning a bar cabinet that fits perfectly with your decorating style is a little piece of luxury, which is justified for all its practical purposes.

The latest addition to the Alfresco bar collection is the Bamboo Wine Bar and the Bamboo Wine Bucket Stand. With its plantation style and old school charm it is casual yet elegant and looks great on an undercover balcony, beach house or in a living room setting. The bar unit holds wine glasses, removable serving tray and plenty of room to store and prepare your drinks. To compliment the bamboo bar there is a large rectangular ice bucket on stand, which holds multiple bottles. Once stocked all you need to add is your panama hat, a sarong and just kick back for the afternoon.

If your entertaining style is a whole lot more casual, packed with kid friendly activities and crazy, wild friends, maybe a drinks bucket, which you can plonk down next to the pool or on the table is more your style. It will solve the problem of having to head back to the fridge time and time again for a cold drink.

A large drink dispenser or two is another way to keep your friends happy and hydrated, in a fun, fuss free way. Fill them with your favourite cocktail or just a mix of lemon, mint and ice cold water to keep everyone cool. If you are setting up a drinks bar for a special party or event we have some funky mason jars to use as glasses. There are so many great ideas for entertaining to ensure you don't feel overwhelmed with loads of guests. If you do a little planning and make things easy by bringing the party outside and letting your friends help themselves you will be able to join in the fun. Enjoy the rest of this glorious, hot summer and make sure you stay hydrated and cool.
