Interior Styling Case Study — Part Two

Presenting the Vision

After the initial consult, this is the stage where everything starts to take shape. Following on from Part One, where we worked closely with Deborah to understand her lifestyle, vision and the potential of her South Coast home, this next phase brings those ideas into a clear and cohesive design direction.

For Deborah Hutton’s South Coast home, Part Two marks the shift from concept to clarity, with our Interior Styling team presenting mood boards, materials and layouts for each space.

From the living and dining areas through to bedrooms, entry and studio, the focus was on how the home would come together as a whole, not just room by room.

A warmer take on coastal

While the home sits in a coastal setting, the direction moves away from a classic coastal palette.

Instead, it leans into a more layered, textural look, with timber, linen, rattan and stone creating a sense of warmth and ease. It’s a style many of our customers naturally connect with, relaxed, lived-in and designed to last.

Refining the palette

Deborah has always been drawn to blue, but for this home she chose to explore warmer greens and earthy tones, creating a softer, more grounded feel. Blue still features in select spaces, including a guest room, as a nod to what she’s always loved.

“I’ve always loved blue, but I wanted this home to feel different. Warmer, more layered.”

Seeing it come together

Through the presentation, Deborah was able to see how everything would work in her space, from furniture placement to how her own pieces would fit within the design.

“Scale is where I struggle, so it’s really great to see how you’ve put this together.”

It’s often the point where ideas click into place and decisions feel much clearer.

While many of the pieces come from our Alfresco Emporium collection, we also source beyond this and, where needed, help design custom pieces, ensuring each space feels considered and tailored to the home.

What’s next

With the direction now set, the next stage is about refining selections and bringing each layer to life. Follow along as the Ocean's Edge journey continues, with Part 3 taking us on site as the build progresses.

Reviewing mood boards alongside real pieces in store gave Deborah a clear feel for the direction, one of the benefits of working with Alfresco Emporium stylists.
